Cold & Flu

Excerpts from the medical intuitive Lise Bourbeau's book Your Body's Telling You: Love Yourself The Most Complete Book on Metaphysical Causes of Illnesses & Diseases. Lise is a best-selling author and speaker and founder of the largest personal growth school in Quebec . She has compiled 20 years of research in the field of metaphysics and it's physical manifestations in the body. Physical problems are the outward manifestations of dis-ease on the psychological and/or emotional levels. Metaphysics is a philosophy that methodically investigates the nature of first principles and problems of ultimate reality. Its link with the physcal is critical to permanent healing and is, by no means, contraindicated with conventional medicine. On the contrary, it is medicine's most valuable teammate.

How is an epidemic explained metaphysically? When the same thing affects thousands of people, do they all have the same lesson to learn?

Throughout time, epidemics have had a way of sweeping through populations like a sickle through a field of grain, quickly and effectively felling large numbers of people. The duration and extent of the epidemic are directly proportional to the particular belief system that maintains it. Metaphysically, those who are affected by such widespread disease are allowing themselves to be overrun by the way of thinking prevalent at the time. This is true especially in times of plague that takes many lives in a very short period of time - sometimes within weeks or months.

Illnesses currently occurring in epidemic proportions are cancer, AIDS, diabetes, muscular dystrophy, heart disease, and asthma, among others. These conditions are flourishing despite the tremendous discoveries made through the research of pharmaceutical companies and the scientific community.

Iris' "Cold & Flu" aids in the prevention of the emotional and mental aspects of viruses.

**Please note that neither Lise Bourbeau nor the editors of this site do not advocate the avoidance of medical intervention. "Discovering and addressing the metaphysical cause of your illness does not mean that you are not to consult a physician. It is much easier to explore the inner realms when you are not distracted by physical pain, so, by all means, get the help you need to ease the situation so that you can explore in comfort"

Flu

The flu, or influenza, exhibits similar symptoms as the common cold as both are caused by the same family of respiratory viruses. The flu, however, is usually more severe, develops quickly and affects more of the body. Symptoms vary in severity and may include respiratory inflammation, headaches, coughing fits, moderate to high fever, aching muscles and acute fatigue. Regardless of the severity, bed-rest is usually needed.

Emotional Block

The flu is the result of critical mass emotionally and physically. It will manifest frequently if it is difficult for you to express your desires or do what it takes to realize them. You feel easily smothered and overwhelmed. The body is saying, "I've had it!" The flu provides an obvious reason to get away from a situation. For example, a secretary who can no longer stand working with her boss may come down with a good case of the flu and stay home for a week. Her soul's desire is to be at work, but with a different attitude. The flu is always linked to your relationship with someone specific.

Mental Block

The severity of your flu is determined by the strength of your belief that's preventing you from fulfilling who you are and what you need to do. Rather than believing the flu is the only ticket out of an uncomfortable situation, examine your mindset and change it! Often, it's your own perspective, not the attitude of others that is the problem. Are you overly dramatic? Do you picture yourself as the victim? Instead of trying so hard to flee the situation, find a way to accomplish what you need with joy and acceptance. Let go and know you have all the tools you need to get the job done.

To uncover the spiritual block that keeps you from responding the needs of your BEING, refer to the "Key Questions". In answering these questions, you will come in touch more easily and accurately with the true cause of your physical problem.

In order to pinpoint the cause of your physical illness more accurately, ask yourself the following questions:

Physical Block

What are the words that best describe what I am experiencing inside or on my body and how do I feel about it?

The answer to the above question reflects what you are experiencing regarding the person or situation that is at the root of your illness.

Emotional Block

What is this illness preventing me from doing and/or having?

The answers to this question represent one or more desires that are being blocked

If I allowed myself to achieve these desires, what would I be?

Mental Block

If I allowed myself to be __________________ (fill in the blank with the answer from the previous question) what unpleasant situation could happen to me AND what would people think of me (or what would I think of myself?)

Your answers will correspond with the harmful belief that is blocking you from meeting your own needs and achieving your dreams. This belief manifests as a physical block.

Spiritual Block

Refer to answer (b) under emotional block. Your response indicates a deep and profound need that is being blocked by an inappropriate belief system.

Conclusion to Key Question Exercise

Once you are able to unearth the belief that blocks you from being what you really want and need, you will have to work on it. The first step is to acknowledge that at some point in your life, you decided to believe this. You thought that this belief would prevent you from suffering the same pain over and over. The next step is to ask yourself is you still need to believe this in order to be happy. If you answer yes, you've determined that your belief is still of use to you - by all means continue to believe it and behave as you always have. But don't expect and change in your life. As you are the architect of your own life, the choice is yours. Just know that by refusing to go towards what you want in life, your life will remain the same. If you've determined that your belief is still partly true but that it makes you unhappy, determine whether or not it has diminished in strength in the last couple of years. If it has it will be easier to let go of. By doing so, you will be on the road to recovery.

When you know deep inside that you want to change this belief, all that remains is to take steps to achieve your desires in order to let yourself to be what you want to be.
